UFC 130

I might as well write something about the fights coming up this weekend.  The UFC 130 is scheduled for this Saturday and the card isn't the most exciting card by any stretch of imagination.

The co-main event, Mir vs. Nelson, is interesting nonetheless.  I think the focus of the fight is whether Mir considers Nelson to be a worthy of an opponent.  Mir brings it and raises his level of game when he is faced against big time fighters like Brock as shown in the past.  If Mir is underestimating Nelson for his pot belly appearance or anything at all, the fight may turn up ugly for Mir quickly in my opinion.  Mir has to be able to put away opponents like Nelson decisively to constantly be up there to compete for titles among the names like Carsin, Dos Santos, and Lesnar.

The main event features a fan favorite, Rampage Jackson, versus Matt Hamill.  I can't understand why Hamill keeps headlining fight cards but he is here again.  I love the story and have much respect and all for Hamill but the bottomline is that he's not a big draw.  Rampage on the other hand is a well known entity but truth be told, is towards end of a run.  This one is hard to call as I can easily see both sides being able to take the fight.  If Hamill can take Rampage down and keep him there with his wrestling, Rampage may not have an answer.  The best moments of Rampage seemed like they came while he was on his feet.

Not sure if I will be buying the pay-per-view with such boring line up of fights.  But then again, all it takes is a one solid phenomenal knockout that makes the event, right?
